Vintage Beni Ourain Berber Rug

These Moroccan vintage Beni Ourain rugs are traditionally hand woven by the women of the 17 sub tribes of the Beni Ourain high up in the Atlas Mountains, using the thick wool from the ancient breed of the Berber Sheep.

They are extremely sumptuous and each rug has a unique, distinguished geometric pattern, making each rug one of a kind. These simple diamond patterned rugs were widely used during the 1930's and 40's by prominent designers like Alvar Aalto and Corbusier for styling their products.

All our vintage rugs are dated between the 1960's to 1980's and are hand-picked by our partners in Marrakech, who trade directly with the weavers themselves high up in the Atlas Mountains, to ensure we provide the highest quality, authentic products making sure that these ancient tribal customs continue.
